Get Involved in the Book
One of the objectives of Marianna’s research is to publish a book, Sacristies of New York: Textile Treasures of the Episcopal Church. The primary purpose of the book will be a survey of vestment and paraments currently owned by Episcopal churches throughout New York state in addition to the history and use of vestments, materials and techniques for embroidery and embellishments, the Church Workroom as an educational and commercial enterprise often run by guilds and religious orders as well as an historical survey of New York vestment retailers.
Additional chapters will offer suggestions on how to choose the best colors and designs for new vestments and hangings that will compliment your church’s interior, as well as storage, care tips and resources.
